Hire a Trainee
Employing a Trainee is a great way to grow the capabilities of your business and create a life-changing opportunity for a young person in the International Trade, Transport, Logistics and Freight industry. Employment can be full-time or part-time but must be a permanent position.
Right now, thanks to the Australian Government’s $1.2 billion apprenticeship and traineeship wage subsidy (Job Maker), you may also be eligible for a subsidy of 50 per cent of wages paid between 5 October 2020 and 30 September 2021, to a maximum of $7,000 per quarter. You can read more on the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills & Employment website. If you choose an Industry Managed Traineeship, your Group Training Organisation will manage the traineeship for you, taking care of everything for you including subsidies.
Industry Managed Traineeships
The easiest way to get started is with a Fully Managed Industry Traineeship. These Traineeships are managed by Group Training Companies that specialise exclusively in the international trade, transportation and logistics industries. They employ the Trainee on your behalf for a fixed or negotiated fee throughout the duration of the Traineeship. They take care of all the hiring, training, trainee welfare and payroll allowing you the company to focus on developing the next generation of skilled workers for your workforce. Trainees undertake a fully accredited National Qualification and upon graduation can continue to work for you.
Self Managed Traineeships
You can also choose to manage the Traineeship yourself. With a Self Managed Traineeship you are responsible for hiring, training, employing and managing the Trainee as well as engaging an Apprenticeship Network provider and a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and applying for any applicable government subsidies or incentives.
